HERITAGE HOMESTEAD
Custom residential
This project involved the removal of the original farmhouse from this family homestead with this new, custom home design. A number of items were salvaged from the old home and re-used as trim and pocket doors in the new home. Beautiful, salvaged items from another family homestead located in Western South Dakota were also incorporated into the new home. During a recent derecho storm, old cedar trees fell down. The owner fashioned the trees into cedar boards to use in the home as closet lining and as a rough-hewn beam for the fireplace mantle.
This home features a spacious covered, front porch and a double-volume front entry hosting the central staircase and pendant light chandelier. The main level of the home contains a formal dining room adjacent to the kitchen, a large butler’s pantry complete with a second refrigerator, a living room, a spacious home office, and master en suite.
The second level features 2 more bedrooms, a full bathroom and a family room with expansive west and south facing prairie views. A basement with room to add 2 more bedrooms and full bathroom and ample storage and a triple stall garage round out the home’s features.
