1921 BUILDING – Apartment Additions

The 1921 Building, located near historic Downtown Brookings next to the Children’s Museum was home to the original Brookings High School when it was built in, you guessed it, 1921! And then eventually became Brookings Middle School. Once a new middle school facilities were built in town, the 1921 Building was renovated into luxury apartments and professional office space.

The building had 4 large staircases, as you would expect in a large school building of that era, but for the current use, was just wasted space.

The owners decided to maximize the unused square footage and converted the extra stairwell into 2 studio apartments. Additionally, an unused garden level space was converted into 2 efficiency apartments to increase the number of living spaces available for rent.
