SD Game, Fish, & Parks Regional Office
Feasibility Study
SDGF&P desired to explore the options available to them for their regional office located in Watertown, SD. The building that houses their staff and operations was originally built and used as a lumber yard and has undergone 2 previous renovations.
The process consisted of two phases of analysis, the first included measuring the existing space to create a set of schematic drawings and then evaluating the existing conditions compared to drawings from the previous two renovations.
The space was then digitally modeled and assessed for several proposed schematic ‘fit’ plans in order to evaluate both the availability and suitability of additional space in the existing building to create more staff office areas and to improve the public-facing customer service space, and improved storage and space planning solutions for administrative and customer-service roles.
The final portion of the feasibility assessment was a structural evaluation of existing conditions and proposed alternatives, to raise any issues that may be encountered in the renovation of the existing spaces for proposed new office and storage uses.
